TYPES OF SOIL MOISTURE SENSORS:

MAINLY THEY ARRE CATAGORISED IN TWO CATAGORIES:

depending on the technology they use: 1) 
The Sensors which measure volumetric water/hydraulic content and 2) Sensors that measure tension of the soil when 
placed in the soil medium.

SO OUR PROPOSED METHODOLOGY ON SOIL MOISTURE SENSOR IS:

So by observing that automation is gaining much importance in the agricultural sector, now a days we need to use the water resources efficiently for the irrigation purpose. So by observing the need to use the water resources effectively SOIL MOISTURE SENSORS can be proven very useful.

So when the SMS's are introduced in the field they give the readings about the moisture content in the soil.So if the moisture content is below respective limit the valve of the pipe which is connected to a reservoir is opened and field is watered/hydrated    and when the water/moisture content is reached to a  given limit i.e  the agricultural field is watered the walve is closed. The moisture readings are  shown on an led screen which is connected to the sensor.

With the help of this model we expect that the work of the farmers will be reduced. Their problem of visiting the field frequently for watering will be reduced. Their will be accurate and efficient watering to the irrigated fields and no wastage of water will be observed. By this model up to some extent the water scarcity problem will be reduced or can be controlled.
